Le Brégançon Castle and strong have in common today only their name, but it is true that in the past, towards 1800, part of productions of the castle (fruits, olives, vines) was intended for thefeeding the soldiers of the Fort. The name Brégançon comes from a Celtic root “brig” or “briga” designating a place with a high position. Furthermore, the word “Brégançon” also comes partly from the Greek word "Pergantium” which probably designated the village or place name of the time. In fact, they are only located 4 kilometers from each other!

How does the visit to Fort Brégançon take place?

Visits are mandatory accompanied by a guide et booked in advance. The duration is approximately 2h30 and is done only on foot. The group is made up of 20 people maximum. Animals and backpacks are not allowed.
