Exposition temporaire : Henri Rivière, Artisan de la lumière, du Chat noir aux paysages du Sud
Born in 1864, H.Rivière captures the ephemeral beauty of landscapes, notably those of Bormes les Mimosas, where he created around fifty watercolors, revealing a sensitivity mixing melancholy and enchantment. His work, influenced by Japanese iconography, magnifies the everyday through dreamlike compositions and delicate palettes.
The visitor also discovers his role at the Chat Noir, where he innovated as artistic director, mixing shadow theater and visual techniques to create enchanting shows. H.Rivière transcends the visible to invite intimate contemplation, transforming each work into an emotional experience.
Under the direction of curators Yann Le Bohec and Olivier Levasseur, this exhibition allows us to rediscover an artist whose talent and vision have enriched France's artistic heritage. An immersion in a world where poetry and light intertwine.
This exhibition is produced with the exceptional participation of: Musée d'Orsay, the BNF, the Museum of Fine Arts of Marseille.
