The Pous d’Amoun and the Draille des Bredouilles

The Draille des Bredouilles is not a recent creation linked to tourist development. In fact, this path was already mentioned in the Napoleonic land register of 1826, at a time when the activity of village was mainly focused on agriculture.

The hunters, in addition to breeding, regularly contributed to thesupplying the village with meat fresh. However, sometimes Luck was not on our side and game was scarce. In such cases, the hunter returned exhausted, with its empty game bag. This is where the Draille des Bredouilles, this small path far from the village, takes on its full importance: it is away from prying eyes and therefore from mockery. The pride of setting off at the first light of dawn now gives way to the discretion of unsuccessful hunting returns.

At the end of the Draille des Bredouilles, you will find on your way the “love lice”, well which is located upstream in Provençal. It has its equivalent at the bottom of the village, “the louse of avau”, well which is located downstream. These wells bear witness to theage-old obsession with finding clean water. The exact date of construction of this well is not known, but it is believed to have been dug at the beginning of the 18th century, at the same time as the other wells in the village. period of intense drought, It was not uncommon to find a guard in front of the well, which limited the amount of water that the inhabitants could collect, in the interest of the community. The person who distributed the water, according to the districts and at well-defined times, then became one of the most important people in the village. In 1945, the municipality issued to the inhabitants of Bormes a water supply map, giving right to 10 liters of this precious liquid per day.
