Near the port of the Faviere, his great beach very accessible stretches over 680 meters long. It is therefore the largest in the municipality and its sand is rather light beige.

Guillaume Valet
Estagnol Beach

On the side of the district of Cabasson, ranging from Fort Brégançon up to the border with the neighboring commune of La Londe les Maures, it is an impressive collection of beaches which follow one another: Brégançon, Cabasson, La Vignasse, La Mère Dieu, Grand Jardin, L'Estagnol, Léoube, Pellegrin and a host of small creeks intertwined.

The sands of the beaches are all diverse, ranging from off-white to gray, from floury to more granular. And the different orientations of these beaches allow you to enjoy a variety of points of view heterogeneous. Admire the harbor ofHyères and the islands d'Or, or the Fort de Brégançon: jewels of the Var coast. Some of these fine sand beaches are more difficult to access. Indeed, their main entry point is located at the level of the Cabasson beach. You then have to take the coastal path to reach the others beaches which follow one another. But from the month of April until October the Domaines de the Stagnol and Léoube open access to the littoralYou can also join the path that leads to the beaches of Bormes from the opposite side of the Fort, at the level of the Argentière beach in the neighboring commune of La Londe.

The coastal path: a common thread from beach to beach

These beautiful Bormes les Mimosas beaches with fine sand which follow one another are linked together by a path which runs along the coast along the sand and rocks: the coastal path. To discover a first selection of Bormes beaches, you can therefore take this path from the port ofin Faviere, towards Cap Bénat. When you are on Favière beach and you look at the sea, you head to the right. You follow the coast and enjoy breathtaking views of the bay of Bormes, while treading the sand of smaller, lesser-known and more discreet beaches because they are more difficult to access.

At the bend of the creeks and coves, the path will take you to the cap blanc, at the extreme south of the town, where you will have to turn around and retrace your steps because the section which continues beyond is currently being studied and restored.

On the other side, at the start of the Fort Brégançon, always heading right when you are facing the sea, following the path also allows you to discover all the other beaches of Bormes the Mimosas. And you're not at the end of your surprises, because here, a beach can hide another, and another, and another... From Brégançon beach, passing by La Vignasse beach and going to Pellegrin beach, enjoy an abundance of beaches over 8 kilometers!

Security and surveillance of beaches in Bormes les Mimosas

Obviously, everyone's safety is essential on our beaches. This is why the city of Bormes the Mimosas implements increased surveillance on the beach of the Faviere as well as that of Cabasson. The lifeguard stations on both beaches have a total of 7 lifeguards, recognizable by their fluorescent yellow t-shirts and red shorts! They are present every day, from June to September, from 10:30 a.m. to 18:30 p.m.

Throughout the year, samples and analyses are carried out on the Bormese coasts in order to ensure constant monitoring of the environmental well-being of the marine environment, as well as the quality of bathing water.

In addition, the Var nautical brigade and the SNSM are present year-round on the maritime level.

The jellyfish

They are present throughout the year, in periods. They are purple and gelatinous and if we approach them too closely, they sting us! These are the Pelagia noctiluca, or more commonly called purple jellyfish. Their sting is very unpleasant and can cause skin irritation. We must be wary of them, but they are obviously not fatal and are very important because they participate in the biological balance of the Mediterranean sea by constituting an essential link in the food chain.

Throughout the summer season, lifeguards, together with maritime authorities and sea guards, Port Cros National Park monitor. Refer to the notice boards at the entrance to the beaches for more information, and you can also consult this Grand Site website which lists the presence, or absence, of jellyfish.

Posidonia

The many small “seaweeds” that you see on the shore are actually seagrasses at the end of their life that rise to the surface and wash up on the shore. Their presence is a natural and ancestral process, essential to the maintenance of the beach because it prevents erosion. These grasses (and not seaweeds) are called “posidonia” and their seagrass beds, present on the seabeds throughout the Mediterranean sea, are essential to the preservation of wildlife because they constitute the habitats and the pantry of many species. Posidonia is our friend!
