Labeled “Musée de France”, it has a collection of ancient and modern, contemporary, Asian and photographic art.
The photographic collection, created in 1977, contains more than 400 works by renowned photographers such as Henri Cartier-Bresson, Edward Steichen, Willy Rolis, and Doisneau.
As for the fund dedicated to Asian arts, it comes from donations made by families of sailors and brings together acquisitions brought from China, Mongolia, Japan and India for a tiny part. This fund gave birth to the Asian Arts Museum, installed in the Villa Jules Verne in Mourillon since 2001.
