Another strong point of the collection: The Orient and travel in the Mediterranean, particularly around Provençal painters (Ziem, Tournemine, Montenard, etc.).
From the 80s onwards, acquisitions focused on contemporary art. This collection brings together representative groups from various major movements, such as New Realism (Arman, César, Niki de Saint Phalle, Martial Raysse, etc.), Minimalism (Donald Judd, Sol Lewitt), Supports/Surface (Daniel Deneuze, Claude Viallat, etc.), as well as major international artists (Daniel Buren, Gerhard Richter, Pat Steir, etc.).
At the heart of the historical library, a cabinet of curiosities presents ethnographic and archaeological objects. Opposite are available works from the library's collection which allow for a deeper understanding and discovery of this collection.
A graphic arts cabinet allows fragile works to be displayed in rotation, such as the photographs (more than 500) and drawings (more than 600) constituting the MAT collection.
