Musée de la faïence

Free visit of the magnificent collections of old earthenware made in Varages from 1695 to the present day. On the 2nd Sunday of August, the museum organizes the ceramics festival: pottery market …
The potters who prospered in Varages, where they found water, clay and wood, began to give way to earthenware makers in 1695. Beyond the artistic and historical quality of the collection, rich in more than a thousand pieces from the 17th to the 21st century, the museum focuses on the man, his history, his experiences, his knowledge. It traces this earthenware tradition that has been uninterrupted for more than three centuries. The ground floor is devoted to earthenware manufacturing techniques. While the upper floors present the collection of earthenware representative of the Varageoise earthenware tradition.
