The castle of the Lords of Fos

Dominating the village of Bormes-les-Mimosas, the Château des Seigneurs de Fos bears witness to nearly eight centuries of history. The center of seigneurial power from 1257, it later became a Minims convent before gradually falling into ruin after the French Revolution. Today, its remains still overlook the village and recall Bormes' medieval history.

Saint-Trophyme Church Bormes les Mimosas

The Church of Saint-Trophyme

Built between 1775 and 1783, the Church of Saint-Trophyme replaced the old parish church located at the top of the village, within the grounds of the Château des Seigneurs de Fos. Larger and more accessible, it became a witness to the history of Bormes-les-Mimosas: transformed into a Temple of Reason during the French Revolution, it later returned to its religious purpose. Today, this three-aisled building notably preserves 18th-century frescoes discovered during its restoration in 1998. Listed as a historical monument since 1973, it remains one of the village's iconic landmarks.

Decommissioned as a military site at the beginning of the 20th century, then designated a scenic site, the fort's purpose changed. In 1968, General de Gaulle made it an official presidential residence . Since then, Fort de Brégançon has become an emblematic site of contemporary French history.
